John Rothmann looks at the Nixon defense and says John Dean’s book is really an indictment of Richard Nixon. A day-by-day accounting of Watergate.

Thanks for the book review Mr Rothmann. I was going to buy it eventually, but after hearing you talk about it here, I’m going to order it right after this post.
You got me hooked on books of this kind. Starting with Forced Into Glory and later, Inside The Presidents Helicopter, which prompted me to watch the Frost interviews, an then read Frost’s book I Gave Them a Sword, and then I was hooked on Nixon and Watergate. Also read some Johnson and Carter books, maybe not on your show, but because of you. You got me started on a new hobby.
I really miss your show that was on a station that almost doesn’t exist anymore. I wish there was a place where we could download any or all of the shows you’ve done in the past.
You’ve have always (when I listened anyway) played the best short music bits. Really cool stuff. One never gets the impression you’re forcing your own favorites on us. If a person likes the show, he’ll like the music. It’s relevant.
I wonder if the original Frost/Nixon interview is available anywhere? From around 1968. Was that a recorded interview (audio), or did Frost just take notes and write an article?
I did read Blind Ambition. I think you recommended it. Very good. It’s funny that Dean used scores of words I’d never heard before. I needed a dictionary several times, but he wrote that he didn’t know what a “slug” was when someone called him one.
I find myself disliking Dean when I read some books, but I can’t help but like him
in Blind Ambition.
Did you interview Dean for this new book? I did hear him on another show, but I’m sure yours would be better.
Has Kissinger ever been on your show? I’d love to know what he thinks about China today.
