I was without power after the quake. I had to go to my car, turn on the engine, and listen to the radio there. I hit the radio maybe 4:or 4:15. By then, KCBS had a geologist from the USGS talking about the location and the magnitude, and they were already dispatching reporters to the location. Sadly, the Cumulus stations were all too busy with their overnight canned programming to offer any information at all. I hate to sound like a liberal leftist, which I am not, but this is precisely the expected result when soul-less corporations and conglomerated control too much of the media – uniformity of programming, uniformity of thought, and a serious lack of attention to the local markets and local market needs. We have seen this kind of automation for several decades now, from CNN Headline News, to Westwood One to the demise of KGO and KSFO as great resources to the local markets. Thank gawd for KCBS and their continued dedication to local news and local events
I agree 100% I did the same thing turned on tv…NOTHING!
Boy I miss KGO….that is where I used to go for this kind of emergency info. I actually ended up on FB I got more info from there!
